Abstract
The biomedical sector suffers from a shortage of innovative materials that can reduce issues related to healthcare waste without recycling options. Biopolymers derived from agro-industrial waste can emerge as a promising alternative solution for the biomedical sector. BiOCARE recovers cutin from agri-food waste, transforming it into medical fabric. BiOCARE aims at upcycling food waste, leading to environmental and economic benefits. Through ecodesign during the design phase, the aim is to limit the production of medical devices with significant environmental impact. The CutToPro project is funded by PNRR a cascata POC 2023 Spoke 2: BiOCARE - Cutina: BIOpolimero sostenibile e atossico ottenuto da biomassa di scarto per uso biomedicale
